Privacy policy

Waka IPTV is a player for the playlist you already have. This policy explains, clause by clause, what the app does with your data. Short version: almost everything stays on your iPhone or iPad.
1. At a glance
• No Waka account: you never sign up or log in with us.
• No analytics: the app does not measure how you use it and sends no usage reports.
• No selling: we do not sell, rent or trade any data about you.
• Your playlists, lists and settings are kept on your device, not on our servers.
The only outside services involved are your IPTV provider, a small settings file, Google’s ads in the free version and Apple’s App Store with RevenueCat for Waka Blaze. Each one is described below.
2. What stays on your device
Waka keeps the following inside the app’s own storage on your device:
• your playlists: their names, server addresses, usernames and passwords, M3U links, guide links, guide time shifts and a copy of any playlist file you import;
• the Hot list, your crates and your pinned categories;
• Keep watching points for films and episodes, and your recent channels;
• reminders you have set;
• your settings and caption style;
• the kids lock: the rules you set and your PIN, stored only as a salted hash, never as the PIN itself;
• small counters the app needs to run, such as whether the welcome card was shown and when to show an ad or ask for a rating.
None of this is sent to us. Like any app data, it can be part of the backups your device makes to iCloud or a computer, under Apple’s terms. Deleting the app deletes all of it.
3. Your IPTV provider
When you add or open a playlist, Waka connects straight to your provider’s server with the details you entered, to load the categories, channels, films, series, the TV guide and the streams themselves. Nothing passes through our servers.
Your provider therefore sees what any server sees: your IP address, the account you use and what you play. How the provider handles that is covered by its own privacy policy, not this one. We have no link with any provider and receive nothing from them.
4. The settings file
At launch, Waka downloads a small settings file from our server. It tells the app whether ads are on, how often they appear, which key to use for subscriptions and where the app’s store page is.
This is a plain download: no playlist, account, viewing or device data is added to it. As with any web request, the server receives your IP address to answer it. If the file can’t be reached, Waka uses the settings it ships with.
5. The TV guide
Programme information comes from your provider’s server for Xtream Codes playlists, and from the guide links named in an M3U playlist or the guide link you add yourself. Waka downloads it directly from those addresses.
The guide is kept in a cache on your device so it opens quickly. It belongs to its playlist and is deleted when you remove that playlist.
6. Reminders
When you tap Remind me on an upcoming programme, Waka schedules a local notification on your device for shortly before it starts. The reminder, its channel and the programme title are stored on the device only.
No push service is used and nothing about your reminders is sent anywhere. Waka asks for notification permission the first time you set a reminder, never before. You can change it at any time in your device settings.
7. Ads and tracking
The free version shows ads from Google AdMob on iPhone and iPad. To choose and measure ads, Google may collect data such as your device’s advertising identifier, IP address, approximate location and how you interact with the ads, under Google’s own privacy policy.
• Consent: where the law requires it (for example in the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland), Waka shows Google’s consent form before any ad is requested. You can change your answer later in Settings › Ad privacy choices.
• Tracking: Waka asks Apple’s App Tracking Transparency question. If you say no, your advertising identifier is not shared and ads are less personal. Waka works exactly the same either way. You can change this in your device settings under Privacy & Security › Tracking.
With Waka Blaze there are no ads at all, so no ad requests are made.
8. Purchases
Waka Blaze is bought through Apple’s App Store. Apple handles the payment; we never see your name, card or Apple ID.
To know whether Waka Blaze is active on your device, the app uses RevenueCat. RevenueCat receives the App Store purchase records, an anonymous ID it creates for the app and basic device and app information, under its own privacy policy. It does not receive your playlists or what you watch.
9. E-mail support
If you write to support@wakaiptv.app, we receive your e-mail address and whatever you put in your message. We use it only to answer you and delete it when it’s no longer needed for that.
Please never send us your playlist passwords: we don’t need them to help you.
10. Children and the kids lock
Waka is a general-audience player and is not aimed at children. It does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone, children included.
The kids lock lets you hide sections, categories or channels behind a 4-digit PIN. The PIN is turned into a salted hash on your device and never leaves it. Nobody, including us, can read it back or reset it for you.
11. Your choices and rights
Because your data lives on your device, you control it directly:
• Remove a playlist in Settings › Playlists: everything tied to it goes too (Hot list, crates, Keep watching, recent channels, pinned categories, kids-lock rules, reminders and its guide cache).
• Clear the watch history of the active playlist in Settings.
• Change your ad choices in Settings › Ad privacy choices, and tracking or notifications in your device settings.
• Delete the app to erase everything it stored.
We hold no personal data about you on our servers, so there is nothing for us to export or delete. For data held by Google or RevenueCat, their own policies explain your rights. You can always ask us anything at the address in clause 13.
12. Changes
If the app starts handling data differently, we will update this policy and the date at the top. The current version is always the one in the app.
